fake it 'til you make it

I grabbed the new issue of Vogue from my art director's hand today! I love flipping through to Natalia Vodianova's shoots! This time, she role-plays nine legendary fashion models and they are spectacular! I couldn't even tell it was her in most of the shots. My favourite is Jean Patchett & Verushka. (white hat shot and white rose turban shot) Very simple, elegant and classic.

spring love

Happy friday everyone! I have the luxury of having the day off and am filling it with well, not much! I seem to have been going going non-stop since I returned from vacation, so today is rest time. It is fantastic weather here and I am thrilled! What kind of plans do you have for the weekend? I am off to a wedding! I'm very excited to wear a new dress I bought a while ago, but hadn't gone anywhere fancy enough to wear it. (plus I am a little excited to show off my tan too...) I will try and post some pics when I return! In the meantime, here are a few shots from an amazing photographer that I know in Toronto. While basking myself in some much needed sun, I constantly saw a theme as beachcombers lounged around. Soft colours, sheer tops, wide brimmed hats, and classic shapes were surrounding me. Bright colours were also accented, which made me feel like I was in a tropical paradise! (the lizards, palm trees and pelicans helped as well) Here are some beautiful photos that were styled by Amanda Moore.

Is by buying me one of these new lovely's from Tiffany's!! All of the ladies and myself were raving over these beautiful pieces! We all had our own favourite, which is why they're so fantastic! They have very simple old-style key pendants and go all the way to very ornate and sparkly. I am into more simple gold necklaces, something that will be timeless and classic. Which one is your favourite?

back and unpacked

Well, you might have guessed by the title...but I'M BACK! I can't believe my vacation week is over! I actually arrived late on sunday night, but it has taken me a few days to get myself all put back together. I absolutely dread the unpacking, the laundry and the grocery shopping that comes with arriving back home from a vacation. But regardless, I definitely did miss home, my little apartment, my boyfriend and friends. It makes all those coming home errands worth it. While on my trip I did find some amazing inspiration and over the next little while I am eager to share it with you! So sit back, relax and take a mini-vacation while reading my blog!

i thought you should know

As of today at 4 pm, I am officially on vacation!! {for one week, and one week only!} I am off to visit my sister in the Cayman Islands!! This vacation could not come at a more perfect time and I am looking forward to wandering aimlessly on the beach, reading a good book and just slowing life down a little. Slowing things down also includes not having internet access, but I hope you will not be too sad while I am away! I encourage you to travel through the blog-world to some of my favourites on my list, and before you know it, I will be back and blogging, with hopefully more inspiration and things to chat about. So sit back, enjoy your week, do something nice for yourself or for someone else and be back in a jiff!

nobody likes me, everybody hates me

I am having one of those days where I just want to curl in bed and forget it ever happened! Nothing really bad happened per se, just a series of unfortunate events that lead up to an ugly feeling in the pit of my stomach. Work was a bit slow and didn't get as much done as I wanted to or needed to. I am also experiencing some people problems. I hate when people are angry. I hate when people are sad. I especially hate when people are sad and angry with me. I just want to fix it all! Sometimes though, our words get lost in translation (even in plain english) and you have to deal in any way possible. Sigh...and goodnight!

I am not quite sure if I am a morning person or a night owl, but I definitely am a big fan of that first hour when I get to work. I try to get to work early, when either no one or a few people are in the office. This is my time in the morning. I can check my e-mail, blog, surf the web, or even just get a head start on my work for the day. I get so much done in that hour! I am left feeling calm and refreshed, ready for when people come in and start asking me a zillion questions! What's your favourite time of day?

So bright and cheery! This royal china blue is so cute. I have been seeing lots of celebrities pairing an oxford shirt in this colour with a pair of skinny jeans. Good idea? I think to top it all off some gold bangles and snakeskin sandals would be perfect!

So it's snowing right now and it's April!! I need to think of something warm. Think..think...think! Kate Hudson in bright florals, with a smile on her face in a sunny window? PERFECT! Here's a shoot from W Magazine in June 07. I know it's a few years ago, but doesn't that just make it vintage?

old is new

As fashion trends come back full circle, so does design. Retro fonts are coming back along with vintage colour combinations. I really enjoy collecting libraries of vintage posters and advertisements, they look so well done! The time that it took to detail each hand rendered illustration and headline is admirable and reminds me when design & advertising were cherished!

I know this is out of the ordinary from my usual posts, but I cannot tell a lie. I can't hold it in any longer...I am a huge fan of a good Bro-mance! Weird? I know, but I saw the film I Love You Man over the weekend, and I have to say it is one of my new favourite movies! If you love a feel-good comedy and aren't afraid to laugh out loud til your stomach hurts, then this movie is a MUST! I know, I sound like a movie reviewer, but it was indeed a good one, and I am adding it to my list of funny movies that will always make you feel good, even after a horrible day. So I dare you to laugh a little...
