you are my friend

March 1st, how I adore you! Yes, it's a little cold, but the sun is shining and we are well on our way to spring! It occurred to me the other day just how much Canadians talk about weather...and it made me laugh. How I even sometimes revolve my day around whether it's sunny and warm out or not. Does anyone else feel this way? Well crazy or not, I'm going to take a nice walk at lunch and enjoy every minute of it! I might even make my way over to the shoe store to try on some new spring flats...gasp!

shades of grey

It snowed all day here in the city. I stayed in, all cozy in my apartment, and loved it! This grey day included numerous cups of hot coffee, painting my nails {a matte grey of course}, a little bit of design, a nourishing hair mask and a heaping bowl of home made chili. I might even get lost in the novel I'm reading tonight...Decadent!

Hope all of you were able to squeeze in a few of your favourite things to do in these last days of February! Does anyone else feel like it flew past?

weekend simplicity

Saturday has arrived! I am actually really happy, I don't have many plans for this weekend, just the usual cleaning up, groceries and relaxing! I have a little bit of freelance work to do, but on weekends like this I like to make it as light as possible and perhaps start out with some awesome music and coffee which then leads into the real work. The subway service is also down today in the city in certain areas, so all the more reason to stay close to home. These are the simplistic weekends I love! Also, don't you enjoy the outfits above? Just what I like, basics that turn into classics and can wear them together endlessly...

birthdays and chocolate

Three cheers for long weekends! {It's a holiday here in Canada tomorrow.} This weekend is extra special for me, as it's my mom's birthday tomorrow, and I am baking her a cake! My mom is usually the one that makes ALL the cakes for every birthday, and this year I thought I would do the honours. So on the cooling racks right now are two layers of good lookin' chocolate cake. I can't wait for her to take the first bite! {complete with my special ingredient in the icing...cherry flavoured brandy, YUM!}

The holiday for us is considered Family Day, and I hope that all of you celebrate a little with your family, and that long or short, your weekend is fantastic!

Number 1, it's friday! Number 2, spring weather has finally arrived! What a perfect combination. If only for a short time, this warm weather makes me so happy! Yes, it's gonna get a little cold again this week, but for now, the smile is on my face no matter what. I'm even wearing a top with short sleeves...imagine that? Isn't this woman and her outfit gorgeous? It's super grey out today, and even though it's warmer than it has been, I am wishing the soft light was shining just like in this photo. Not to mention what I wouldn't give to have a Starbucks coffee in my hand!

let them eat french toast

In attempts to make this a lovely weekend despite the cold and snow, my first treat was as soon as I woke up this morning. Home made lemon & blueberry french toast! It was YUM! The thing I love about french toast, is that it's so easy to make, and the combinations are endless. Pair it with some yummy coffee and that brightened my morning immediately!

Lots of things to do today, but can't complain, they're all lovely and girly things, like wedding invite designs for a client, and baking some V-day cookies! Hope you all have a fantastic saturday...

Everyone at the office is buzzing about their weekend Valentine's plans. At first this got me a little down, as the bf is currently away for med school and we won't be celebrating a lot of milestones together for the next few years...BUT this can't stop me from enjoying a little excuse to dress up kinda cute and bake some cookies, maybe even make them heart-shaped! Are you a yes or no kinda girl for Valentine's Day?

why oh why

Ok, so I am totally over winter. Why does it have to tease us with a warmer day, then BAM! Freezing cold and bitter...I definitely feel like it has been a long winter this year, but maybe it's just because I am such a summer weather person. I look in my closet every morning, tired of wearing sweaters and long for the days of slipping into a comfy dress and sandals. I also think it's affecting my design and inspiration. I don't feel as motivated or have as many ideas popping into my head like I normally do. Yes, I am healthy, I eat healthy and work out every week, but I think the cold is getting to my brain! Does anyone else out there feel this way?

My apologies for complaining...next post will be better, I swear!

Aren't these prints from Therese Sennerholt awesome? I think my favourite has to be No Guts, No Glory one. It's such a strong message, displayed in such a cute way! I really like her presentation of each print, not only just a framed version, but also in an environment setting. It's clean, simple and ultimately timeless. I'm such a sucker for type...

Amazing! I honestly just wanted to post these photos because they are so gorgeous..AND also she is perhaps wearing the most perfect motorcycle boots ever! Though this looks a bit like a fall photo shoot, I am attracted to the sun streaming through in each one and the overall colour palette. Give me navy, cream and black anytime...

winter white out

Most of southern Ontario is in the middle of a major snow storm, and here I am sitting at work looking out the window. Ho hum... These are the times that I am SO over winter, and just want spring to come. Just like the photos above, I dream of the sun shining later into the evening and a warm breeze. Though I love how these images also portray how I'm feeling right now too, a little on the cooler side with a touch of warmth off in the distance. Off to grab a warm cup of coffee and oatmeal..YUM!
