should we listen?

Ok, so I love the Keep Calm & Carry On poster. In fact, I've got an original from England {Thanks Colleen!} chilling in my apartment. After I spotted this issue of Toronto Life's cover on newsstand, and hearing everyone talk about it at work, I'm just not sure how I feel about everyone spoofing it. I love what this poster stands for, pride, loyalty and a time when chivalry and community meant everything. What do you think? Yay, or nay to this cover?

Aww thanks Sandi :) My blog is such a baby compared to yours. Hopefully I won't lose motivation and actually keep it up!

Well I think I say Nay. The original poster concept was clever, if a bit patronising, but now it's all getting overexposed and derivative.

I still think that the original has such a such impact, and if it's inspiring others to promote a message or keeping calm, then i think thats fine. (it's the new 'stop an smell the roses sort of thing, and i thinks a good thing) If anything it seems to almost advertise the original poster more, and maybe it'll get people more interested in posters again... maybe find out what they're really about. Maybe it'll be a good thing for us designers... maybe we'll get the appreciation we deserve. hehehe
