monday blah's

monday 3

monday 1

monday 2

I have been so busy lately and just wanting to be like a kid and stomp my feet and say NO! But that's not how life works, is it? So for now I will just slowly make dinner, then do laundry and maybe knit and try to savour some relaxing moments, because not too long from now tomorrow will appear!

today's favourite colour Pantone 1245c

Today I am loving gold! After putting up my tree with all it's beautiful silver, dark purple/brown & gold decorations, it reminded me of how much this metal tone can match any decor! It also makes things feel so elegant and special. My apartment definitely feels special now with all the holiday trimmings! What metal tone do you prefer, silver or gold? {or even copper}

quiet & reflective

friday

Happy friday! I am so happy that it's the end of the week and saturday is just around the corner. But today, I don't really want to rush it because I know once it hits saturday, the time will fly! I have lots of creative plans, knitting, designing, finishing up my holiday cards for Short & Sweet. I also have a shopping date with a pretty dress! {or my mission is to find a pretty dress} I am headed to an opera on thursday next week and must find the perfect outfit. Any suggestions? I'm thinking Jacob, Zara or H&M...

just a reminder!

To celebrate For Design's Sake one year anniversary, I am giving away a cute little thank you card! A winner will be selected at random tomorrow night. You have just one day left to comment on the post! Good luck to everyone, and thanks for making this first year easy peasy & super fun!

perfection in poster size

My friend Amanda LOVES posters. {hey lady!} So this post is dedicated to her! Music posters, especially vintage are so inspiring! The attention to detail in the illustrations and typography are key and these are killer! My favourite is the Decemberists one for sure. I'm off to do some design work today for a freelance job, and this definitely starts my brain off right! OH and happy monday...one more day til my birthday!

light & bright

I know these colours work usually in summer, but when I came across this party setting on Ruby Press, I had to show it! An event for Viv&Ingrid, an accessories and gifts store that has been featured in Lucky, Wedding Style and Ladies Home journal, is filled with champagne colours: corals & oranges. I love how bright it is! The little labels on the candy and cake stands are such a good idea and add a little extra to your party fun, and I am really digging the ornate fonts right now...*yum

for a man's world

Yup, this is a feature taken from GQ. Even though it's obviously skewed towards men, I can't help but love it! The lingerie is so elegant but has that kick ass edge with the sky-high heels and studs. I'm also such a sucker for anything Gossip Girl, and Leighton looks stunning.

See more fab lingerie from the shoot here.

reflections of fall

A grey and rainy day outside today, all I can think about are the beginning days of fall. The days that were filled with saturated colours, breezy winds and tartan prints! Also with my birthday coming up, I can't help but reflect on days passed this year. Does anyone else do that? I have almost been blogging a year...unbelievable!

all over beauty

I just found my newest love! This canvas bag from Hickoree's Hard Goods is so my style – simple, clean and soft. I totally want to use it as a portfolio bag, to go along with my acrylic white portfolio. They would be the perfect pair!

counting to 10

I REALLY wanna go shopping for myself. I mean, look at that Miu Miu purse! However, I must resist the urge as Christmas is right around the corner, and I need to save my money. It's so difficult! I have to constantly count to 10 to resist the urge...NEW SHOES!! {d'oh, 10..9..8....}

pieces of me

Woops! I went MIA for a few days. Where did that time go? I took a much needed R&R this weekend while visiting friends and family. I have been so busy lately with getting my short and sweet blog up, mailing lists, business cards, potential clients etc., that I feel like there are pieces of me everywhere! Gotta put them back together this week, I have been so frazzled. {but it's totally worth it in the end} xoxo

I wanted to post this picture purely because it makes me smile. It reminds me of a country house in mid-summer filled with memories and sunshine!

morning joy

Last night the boy and I were having a little chat about coffee. I love my morning stop at Starbucks! That smell... that first sip... Heaven! He suggested I make coffee in the morning at home, then fill'er up and go. And even though that would save me quite a few bucks every month, I have a full-time job, and it's my morning joy! My day just doesn't feel the same without it. Is that wrong? Teehee...

must love fonts

I'm in LOVE! I just spotted this blogger, Jessica Hische, who is an illustrator & typographer. Her font buttermilk is now for sale and I can't wait to get my paws on it. It will be the perfect addition to my short & sweet paperie font collection. *swoon...

done in 60 minutes

Project 60 is one of the coolest ideas I've ever heard of! Kevin Gonsalves, previously in magazine publishing has turned freelance as a photographer, marketeer and blogger in the city, and this guy is seriously cool! Project 60 was his idea, to shoot 60 frames of a subject in 60 minutes. Such a good way to become a better photographer, or to see things from a different view. Check out his website here.
