another item on the to-do list

I have ALOT of magazines. I can't help it, it's just something I've always collected. I even have 2 huge boxes at my parents house filled with old Vogue & Vanity Fair's. I have them popping out from my coffee table, and my wicker baskets around my living room. Am I crazy? I have about 3 piles on my floor right now just waiting to be shelved in neat, white magazine holders. I was thinking Ikea was the best bet for these... any suggestions? I finally just bought a bookshelf to house all of my pretties, which is a step in the right direction!

kate strikes again

I wish I could just take a quick trip in my imaginary jet over to the UK for the day to grab some of these great pieces that are in Kate's line at Top Shop. Aren't they gorgeous?I love the glam layered look and the mix of jackets, stripes & silks are perfect. *Jealous of all your brits out there...

rain & shine

This weekend I had to head to the exciting Owen Sound for work. I decided to bring my mom along for some company. And even though the drive was wet both there and back, and the reason for the trip not so fun; the company was spectacular, we unexpectedly spotted a cute cafe/bakery that had delicious coffee & lemon tarts, and hunted through some used book stores and antique shops. It was quite the weekend! How was yours?

juicy beauty

I just got the September Vogue. I couldn't wait to flip through the pages to soak up some inspiration. Gorgeous! My favourite was the tour of co-creative director of Juicy Couture, Gela Nash-Taylor's English country abode. It is boasting with charm, beautiful topiary's and that feeling of everlasting style. I love the hints of turquoise everywhere, and isn't that chandelier in the dining room, to die for? One day I'll have a country home!!! Right?

oh summer, where art thou?

Today it's grey and cold. My outfit matches, I'm in all black. Though I feel chic, (with my accents of gold) my heart is saddened by the blustery wind and grey clouds.

if found, please return to:

SANITY! Wow, I realized I have been MIA for a few days. I am so sorry. The to-do list just got longer and longer and work has been crazy. Deadlines don't stop for any man, do they?

dear weekend:

I wish you could last forever! I can't believe it's mid-sunday already. The weekend has flown by, but what a wonderful one it was! First it started with an amazing sold-out Pearl Jam concert {pics to be posted later tonight}, then touring all around the big city for bars, drinks, friends and ended it with a Chinatown resto! That night seemed to go on forever... But here it is, now sunday night and I'm too lazy to be productive. What's left? Be girly, do my nails, drink some wine, watch some movies and ring in the new week! Happy sunday!

after the storm

Happy friday to everyone! This morning I had to wake up a bit earlier than usual to get into work. My eyes wouldn't open on their own and as I peered through the half-opened slits, I could only see mist and grey out my window. The CN tower was even hidden! Last night we had tornadoes and crazy rain for quite a while. This morning seemed calm, quiet & foggy. I loved it. As I stepped out my door it seemed like a different city for a moment.

mon ami

I finally finished a series of started books that I was in "the middle of" for about 3 months. My rule was to finish those before starting any more books. Now I can! I chose Petite Anglaise...the cover art is so cute. It's about a girl from England, that moves to Paris as her dream. She eventually starts a blog and her new life plays out. Sounds like fun, non

You can get it here.

my not-so-secret love affair

I am in love with white space. If you're a designer, you totally know what I'm talking about. You know, the white space among images and type on a page, the kind of space that gives you a little breathing room and makes your eye rest comfortably? This cover of Marie Claire that I picked up today, just adds to that love affair! The colours are gorgeous and it feels so pretty and summery! I also just remembered that Daniella from dress design decor, did a post a while ago about the feature. {we're always on the same design wavelength, maybe that's why we're friends?} And after a crazy day like I've had, my eyes are happy resting on this for a while...

always a bridesmaid

And who wouldn't want to be in these super cute sea foam dresses? I spotted this in Martha Stewart Weddings and had to file it away. I absolutely love the green, white, and natural wood accents.

put the petal to the...

Summer has definitely shown it's true colours these past few weeks in Toronto. The sun is beaming in windows, shining into our sunglasses and making every one slightly happier {who could blame them, with all that extra Vitamin d?} I wish I had a cute floral dress like this to saunter around in. Flouncy & floral, and FUN!

we all float on

{Thanks to Modest Mouse to writing that song...}
After a long day at work, I have come home, immediately poured a glass of rich, voluptuous red wine, sat myself in front of the tv and finally finished watching all of Gossip Girl season 1 on dvd. It's been divine! Now that I'm unwound, I can surf the web a little and soak up some inspiration!

should we listen?

Ok, so I love the Keep Calm & Carry On poster. In fact, I've got an original from England {Thanks Colleen!} chilling in my apartment. After I spotted this issue of Toronto Life's cover on newsstand, and hearing everyone talk about it at work, I'm just not sure how I feel about everyone spoofing it. I love what this poster stands for, pride, loyalty and a time when chivalry and community meant everything. What do you think? Yay, or nay to this cover?

today's favourite colour Pantone 374c

Today was so sunny and warm, and while I was perusing A Little Sussy, I came across this beautiful bouquet. Of course, immediately I put it in my "to remember for my wedding" folder. Like what girl doesn't have one of those? It also inspired me to love that shade of green, so fresh and matching with colours like peach, golds, royal blues and black!

speaking of l'il ones

This poppy bowl from PrinceDesign UK is so cute! The statement is simple but classic and because it's handmade, it makes it even more special! Imagine having a series of these on top of a table and that's it. Delightful.

I don't usually say this often

But this laptop case from Byrd & Belle is perfection. The colour, the textile, the design...I could go on about it, but for now, let's just say it's perfect! *swoon

hot shades

Everyone is talking about pink! {take cue from dress design decor or A Life more Fabulous} So I wanted to show you these vintage letters I spotted on Concrete + Honey. I love that it's just one hit of the pink {in a really crazy room!} My kind of style..

traffic lights

The city was buzzing this morning. It was hot, hazy and crowded. Yet I walked along with Starbucks in hand and sunglasses on face, ready to take on the day.

loved and were loved

I love vintage. I love everything about vintage, from collecting teacups, to spending hours and hours searching for the perfect little find. While in Prince Edward Island, my shopping addict aunt, sister and I, all piled into a car and set off to find roadside treasures. This is what we found on the way! I also scored some sweet sweet old printing letters that I'll show you in another post. I'll definitely be adding it to my collection of stationery designs currently in the works. {short & sweet paperie...stay tuned}
