shapes and colours

How adorable are these illustrations by Blanca Gomez? I spotted the city illustrations on Black Eiffel this morning, and had to search out more! We are in luck, there's an etsy shop full of fun illustrations & cards. The tones, colours and shapes that are used are just my style, and I love the crafty feel. What I wouldn't give to score that balloon illustration for my boy for our anniversary later this year. Adorable!

monday cheer

It's monday again. Usually I am pretty sad that it's monday, but lately I have been determined to keep it cheery, and to make it a productive but satisfying week! I went to the gym yesterday and am so sore, but it's sunny and gorgeous outside and that makes me smile. I thought today I would bring in some just pretty bright photos by Ashlee Raubach. I think it inspired me to get some flowers this week and maybe some fresh fruit and veggies! {and wouldn't you just die for that sun-filled kitchen?} Have a great day!

It is so close to the weekend, I can almost smell it! It's supposed to get a little cooler, which I am not happy about but am anxious to have a relaxing weekend. I plan on a brunch & spa date with my mom, along with some happy hours spent reading. I also have limited internet access, which I am surprisingly happy with for once! It's amazing how we get so dependent on that in our daily lives. {but if there's one thing I love about it, it's to read all of your wonderful blogs out there!} I need a little rest from the email & facebook world to get my brain rolling and creative in another way. Do you ever get that? What inspires you?

refresh it

refresh

I just wanted to say a little thanks for all your patience in the past little while, my lovely readers. I know lately I have been complaining too much about being busy and all the craziness, but the fact is, I said yes to all these projects and things got too carried away and then I couldn't control it. With this new job, and a big freelance project dying down, I finally feel like I have a chance to refresh and slow down a little bit more. I long for the weekends where I could get up just a little bit later, head to my favourite coffee shop and read for an hour without feeling guilty! Or even blog more than once in a day about cool new things. I hope this is soon to come! Here's to a fresh new week everyone!

new week

new job

I know I'm late, it's tuesday already, but yesterday I was a bit distracted. I started a new job! It's full time again, and I finally feel like perhaps life can slow down just slightly. I have to admit, I was nervous, and hate those first few days of learning new systems. I wish I just automatically would know it all and could dive right in, but that's not how it works and must endure the learning curve all over again. However, I am looking forward to more creative processes, using new fonts and photographers and making new friends!

Happy Easter weekend! I have to admit, this is probably one of my favourite holidays. There's just something about those pastel candies this time of year that I just love! They somehow taste different than christmas or halloween candies. {and who doesn't love a good easter egg hunt?} I also enjoy that it is so close to the beginning of spring with all its lovely colours and fresh breezes. I'm spending some time with my family and the boy over the next few days. This morning we even made these delicious Red velvet pancakes I spotted on From Portland to Peonies. I highly recommend them for their fun colour and cocoa-y taste!

I hope the weather is nice where you all are and enjoy the weekend! {perhaps bake something sweet too?}

camera shy

camera shy

Today I am helping out a friend with a photo shoot...I'm so nervous! Mainly because I am the model, and typically, I like being behind the camera rather than in front. But I have complete faith in her and trust she will make me look good! {right Amanda?} Cross my fingers it turns out to be an empowering experience!

sun-drenched

sun drenched

Man, it's bright out there today! Though it's not quite too warm, the rays make it somehow seem warmer...which gets me thinking about sun drenched shades of the rainbow. I love to see faded colours all matched together, leaving every outfit to look comfortable and soft. What I wouldn't give to slip on a loose white tea and faded jeans! (oh, and add that LV scarf to the list...)

sun filled weekend

breakfast

Happy weekend! I was lucky enough to have a little longer weekend, with yesterday being off work. I was able to munch on some yummy fresh lemon twist & chocolate croissants and latte's with Amanda at this amazing cafe on Queen East. SO GOOD and fresh! Just love the atmosphere too, so warm and welcoming. We then headed to the studio to get our hands dirty with the press! {letterpress, that is} It was so fun, and the sun was shining all day, which made it feel even better. I hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

I'm feeling a bit moody today and am feeling glam & dark, like a mix of golds and blacks. Even in my outfit I'm rocking the caramel boots, black tights and gold jewelry...must be the the ominous grey skies and party that's supposed to go on tonight at work! Cocktails anyone?

for beauty's sake

Working in the magazine industry, you become surrounded by photographers, prop stylists and pretty things of all kinds. Every once in a while you come across a beauty that just overwhelms you, strikes you in a different way, or perhaps makes you look at objects in a new light. I came across Kate Mathis yesterday. The light and props she uses are phenomenal, and gives an old world charm to beautiful things. I love the tarnished & antique objects..almost gives the photos a human presence, like you want to know the story behind them. The same goes for all her photos, they have such a great presence in them, leaves you wanting more!

fresh spring air

spring3

spring 5

The first day of spring has finally arrived! Even though it's grey outside, I had the yearning to don my sunglasses, ballet flats and roll up my distressed pair of skinny jeans a little to show some ankle, just to prove that spring is here! I think I might even stop in at the flower shop on my way home from the office {yes, I had to work today} to brighten up my room where the grey skies are peering in my window.

OH and spring cleaning must start soon! Time to declutter...
