summer tarts

The summer season definitely gets me into the baking and cooking spirit. How I love picking up a bunch of fresh fruits and vegetables and being inspired to make something delicious. Lately I have been eyeing a lot of tart recipes. Whether it's a frittata brunch style, to a summery dessert, I am thinking this might be the way of the summer for me. Plus who doesn't love buying those little cute baking pans and putting the simplest ingredients together and have it look good! Now to find the easiest pastry and crust recipe to go along with those fresh ingredients...got any suggestions?

Such a quiet day at the office, so lovely! I am finding myself daydreaming about lots of things. Oh how I would love to be in a huge antique store, searching for the perfect little baubles and such. What's the best thing you've found at a vintage shop?

Just spotted a few images on Garance Doré for her post about the Chanel Resort line for 2010/11. So gorgeous! Love the mix of florals, classic chanel tweeds and light airy white cottons. Looking through all the styles makes me wish I lived on a boat, could drink Perrier and wear sunglasses every day! *Sigh...

june greeting

Photobucket

Photobucket

Hello my dears! I am now back home from my week away in paradise. Though, I have to say that in the city right now, it's warm, sunny and finally summer-like weather! My week away was lovely, and full of snorkeling, swimming, reading and eating SO MUCH yummy food. I did feel like the week sped by and coming back on the plane on sunday felt premature. I definitely wasn't ready to get back to reality. Don't you think when you go on vacation that two weeks should be mandatory? A week to decompress, and a week to enjoy!

Coming back, I feel a fresh start to summer coming on. My hope is to really enjoy some of the summer season, go for bike rides, see lots of concerts and just really savour all the moments it has to offer. Here's to June!

P.S. I hope to process my photos from my trip soon to give you a peek into the loveliness I saw. Stay tuned...

Well my lovely dears, I am off tomorrow to the Cayman islands for my vacation! It felt like it took forever to come, but now it's finally here and I already feel a sense of relief. I can't wait for the constant sunshine, amazing food {especially the coffee...} and the beautiful calm of the ocean. I am bringing my DSLR so I can share my photos with you when I return.

I hope this week is filled with fun for all of you, and promise to not only come back rested and relaxed, but hopefully filled with more inspiration and fun stories! While I am away, I hope you can enjoy some of my past posts, and feel free to venture onto other wonderful blogs in my list of faves to the right.

I will miss you all!

day dreaming in slow motion

This saturday marks my official week vacation. I have gone a long time without a full actual week off, complete with no internet or phone access or on-the-side freelancing gigs, and I can't wait! But first things first, I have to get through the rest of this week. Though work is steady enough to keep me busy, I can't help but start to day dream about those turquoise waters and warm sun beams, and it feels like my days this week are running in slow motion and never going to end! It reminds me of when I was a kid waiting for Christmas, the days took forever and it was slow torture. Funny, huh? Why does that happen?

font lovin' {with jessica hische}

Photobucket

I have always loved Jessica's work. Her style is totally what I dig, clean and a bit girly, but well designed and modern! I just spotted this hilarious font family tree on her blog today. If you're a designer like me, you will find this quite amusing. For those of you who aren't designers, just remember..Papyrus is a NO-NO. 'Nuff said...

sweet little secrets

I have been thinking a lot about friends and family lately, especially during busy or hard times. Even though this precious little gift is meant for brides to give their bridesmaids on their special day, I think it's perfect for any time! I actually wish I had spotted this before mother's day, what a perfect gift for someone close to you. I discovered it on 100 Layer Cake, who found it on Etsy. I did a little search under "vintage bubble locket" and found what I was looking for here. How adorable!

It's pretty slow at work today, which makes me very happy. The past week has been so intense with lots of late nights, and I'm taking it pretty easy, feeling a little bit more rested, but also kind of silly from the lack of sleep over the past little while. This photo shoot by Andreas Sjodin for Vogue Nippon is exactly how I feel, light and airy with a touch of quirkiness. How great are those hats?

food to my soul

A few years ago I read the incredible book by Elizabeth Hay, Eat, Pray, Love and was entranced in the words that she wrote. I related so much to her story and when I heard it was going to be made into a movie, I was a bit afraid. Books I have read and loved become part of my soul and sometimes a movie doesn't do it justice. However, when I heard Julia Roberts was going to play her, I was excited! I really felt like perhaps she could portray Elizabeth the way I envisioned her in the book. I just spotted the trailer and it made me smile. I am so excited to see it this summer!

striped delight

I am always on the search for inspiration, especially when I'm knee deep in crazy work and need to come up with something brilliant! But why do all the cool things seem to come from the UK? For example, meet Minimega. They're a company in the UK that makes the coolest striped paper bags, posters and cards all from 100% vegetable based inks. I love their simplistic style and cool patterns. Too bad they don't ship to Canada! *sigh...

rock the monday

monday2

What? It's monday again? How did that happen so fast! I confess my dears, that this weekend I had no time to post, as I was at the office. {ick!} It was such a beautiful weekend too! Though, I did take some time on saturday to do a little yoga and make a delicious fresh meal with veggies straight from the market. Food tastes so much better fresh! Hope you all had a lovely weekend, and it looks like things will be slowing down, so more posts to come, I assure you.
