bright ideas

Happy Saturday!
Last night as a little treat and in celebration of my new job and prospects, I watched 500 Days of Summer..FINALLY and I absolutely loved it! A little piece of heaven wrapped up in a movie. Watch it, you won't regret it...
Have a great day! I'm off to skip around the city.

All bundled up and walking to get coffee this afternoon, it felt like summer with the sun beaming on my face. I even had to wear sunglasses! This spring I am thinking peach tones, yellow & kelly green, ohh maybe even a hit of a soft lilac? Oh and those soft, feminine fabrics are gorgeous!

Happy friday everyone! Today I'm a little sad because it's my last day at my old job. *Sigh. BUT they did have amazing cupcakes for me from the CupCake Shoppe {which is like a girl's dream} and I had an awesome dinner of Mexican with my peeps. I am going to miss seeing their sweet faces every day. xo

I am a bit late on saying this, but happy 15th anniversary to Martha Stewart Weddings! I have been so busy that I just now bought the latest issue of MSW. I'm not getting married any time soon, but this magazine is any girly designer's dream. They always include beautiful typography & stationery, and everything is so neat and tidy and it makes me swoon every time I pick up the issue.
Here are just three of my favourite ideas for a wedding:
1. amazing table settings, with a pop of one vintage piece a whole table can look marvelous!
2. desserts galore! Who would complain about that?
3. a really cool backdrop for guests to have their pictures taken in front of. They can have fun and be silly!

This is totally my style. Casual but chic, almost seems effortless! I love that look when someone is wearing an outfit that looks just thrown on, but has amazing style. Clearly Karolin Wolter has that! {and I have to admit, I totally lust after the volume she has in her hair!}

It's friday already? A combo of magazine award entries, freelance and finishing up my Valentine stationery has landed me on a friday night barely awake and ready for a new fresh day! I have some good news to share with you all, my dear readers... Besides starting my Short & Sweet endeavor, I have a new job to pair with it! I can't wait to be even more creative, with photo shoots and more editorial design on a daily basis. Though this new job will be intense at first, I can't wait to really shine and to see things in a new light! Hope you have a great weekend! OH! While you're scrolling through the blog world on your free time, don't forget to pop over to Short & Sweet to enter my new year giveaway!

I just found a new favourite blog! Looks Good to me illustrator Caroline, does amazing work! As a textile designer and illustrator, she understands that organic style that I just love. Soft watercolours, quick black outlines and pretty things as her subjects...perfection!

Ok, so Meryl Streep's life may have been crazy, but in It's Complicated, the home decor {especially the kitchen} is simply stunning! I think if I were her, I would read by the fire and bake lots to de-stress! {which inspired me to make my own chocolate croissants} I couldn't help but drool over the whole house's light and airy feeling, and the amazing sense of "home". It totally made me swoon! That reminds me alot of how obsessed I was with Something's Gotta Give cottage home...how perfect that kitchen was too? *Sigh...

funny five

I love randomness. The boy today was singing an old Herbaliser song that I totally forgot about and it made me laugh. While you're sipping your afternoon coffee or just strolling through, take a 5 minute break and watch this funny little music video. It's awesome!

It's friday night and time to start off the weekend right! What are your plans? I'm just waiting for the boy to arrive, but in the meantime am going to have myself a big glass of white wine and listen to some rockin' tunes! xo

today's favourite colour Pantone 206c

Valentine's day is on it's way. Even though I don't like getting too into the mushy gushy stuff {I would prefer it all year 'round!} I do love getting into the colour pink! I'm not much of a pink girl really, I prefer greens and other softer colours, but why not get right into it when the time is right?

winter woes

I was at a party last night with some great friends and we all got chatting about how no one likes January. This month, at least in the city is not filled with the warmth and coziness it had over the winter holidays, but is not bitter cold and the snow tends to get a bit dirty from now on until March. Who likes that? With that said, I already have a few trips booked for february and april! How did that happen so fast?! Though, I wish I looked as elegant as this model is on her flight. LOVE the blue belt & dress in the last shot. I wonder how she did through the brutal security search? HAHA!

goodbye double zero's, hello 2010

new year 2

new year 1

new year 3

new year 4

Happy new year to all! Hope your evening was spent all glittery and filled with fun. For me, this was definitely a year to celebrate and I made sure I did just that! Along with all the celebration, I couldn't help but think over what happened this year and what made it better than the one before that. Instead of doing resolutions, I have decided to continue on and make better of a few things I have really been striving for this year. The reason why I have decided to do this is for one thing I have learned. We are too hard on ourselves, we get too busy or consumed with things we keep adding to our life. I find people make a list of 10 or more resolutions and eventually they just fall by the wayside. I learned that simpler is better, instead of adding more and more chaos to our lives we should be simplifying and enjoying our time. Here are my two things to work on and I hope it inspires you as well!

1. Work to live, not live to work. Being self-employed this year initially made me want to jump into as many jobs as possible, but by the middle I was so exhausted and was starting to really forget my goals. Realizing that it is much more fulfilling to work to live and not vice versa really changed my course of action. I had the opportunity to take any extra money and travel or take lessons on things I am interested in. This year I want to continue that and really strive for a well-balanced work/life.

2. Eat well, live well. We have all heard this many times before and it is much easier to say than do. I get so busy, that I just end up ordering food or not taking the time to prepare fresh meals. Then I end up feeling worse and worse. I have been starting to make the time to buy fresh groceries every week, make a menu and stick to it. I am aware that I sometimes get busy, but there are so many quick meals you can make just as easy as picking up the phone and ordering food!

What are some of your goals this year?

P.S. I also really hope that over the past year my blog has stayed interesting and fun for all of you to read. Comments and questions are welcome at any time! Best wishes to you this 2010 year!
